Is your phones message icon stuck at "1" under the notification, now even when you do get messages the main message icon still shows 1. 

Let me guess you probably deleted all your messages to get rid of this or gone through all your message threads, you could have even tried to go in to app settings and delete the cache in messages. Well that's what I tried until I found the resolution to the problem.

So here we go to finally get rid of that pesky annoyance

in settings go to application manager - scroll to all apps - look for "badgeprovider" - press clear data - then restart your phone

Microsoft windows XP Vista 7 and 8 White screen virus solution

I recently got this white screen virus. When windows boots my desktop appears for 5 seconds and then the screen turns white. I cannot do anything from there except reboot the computer. When I do that, the white screen closes and I see my desktop again for few seconds before the system shuts down. ctrl, alt and delete works to reboot or shutdown system. Safe mode doesn't allow access to browse issue under the same user name.

All this seems familiar, then your in trouble... Well maybe not quite yet. I'm not a computer geek and my understanding of how operating systems work is quite basic, so when I'm in bother I usually try finding the easiest solution.

lets try to understand what possibly happened first.

Your computer is infected with a piece of malware known as Trojan Reveton.

The White Screen virus is also prevalent on peer-to-peer file sharing websites and is often packaged with pirated or illegally acquired software.

The White Screen virus locks the computer and depending on the user’s current location, displays a localized webpage that covers the entire desktop of the infected computer and demands payment for the supposed possession of illicit material. However in some cases, this trojan is unable to detect the IP address or location, so you’ll get a white screen after login.

The White Screen virus is distributed through several means. Malicious websites or legitimate websites that have been compromised may drop this trojan onto a computer. This drive-by-download often happens surreptitiously. Another method used to propagate this type of malware is spam email containing infected attachments or links to malicious websites. The threat may also be downloaded manually by tricking the user into thinking they are installing a useful piece of software.

After reading about all the doom and gloom, the easiest way I found to solve this issue was to create a new user account by logging in as another user, remember to turn your WiFi off. Assuming someone else uses your computer, login to their user account. If not create another user in safe mode via administrator. The other user must also have administrator privileges over the computer. Do your virus scan first and remove any viruses detected. Unfortunately this is not going to solve the white screen issue in the problematic account. Create a new user account and sign in to the new account to check if its working fine. Transfer all your files from your old account to the new one by going into [computer/C: drive/user/your user name?] . Be aware your not transferring any program files. Your safest bet is to only transfer files your aware of whats inside i.e. pictures, videos, documents etc. delete old account and run your virus check again and restart system when finished.

Hopefully you have averted a crisis and feel relieved to have restored your trust in computers again.
